The Old Garage
I actually stumbled across The Old Garage on its opening week in 2019 and I’ve been meaning to write about it ever since. And, oh my goodness, as soon as I stepped through the door I knew this place was a piece of me!
A carefully curated selection of the most amazing food and drink – er, you have seen this blog right? YES PLEASE! 😂
If you too, like something a bit special and find yourself in Cornwall, this is the place to head to.
Location
3 Chenoweth Business Park, Ruan Highlanes, Cornwall, TR2 5JT
There’s free parking and it’s on a main road and really easy to find. It’s in the same place as Da Bara Bakery and we always visit both!
The Old Garage is in a very convenient location, on the roads that lead to many of the most popular Cornwall day trip locations. It’s great as it means you can pop in and grab some bits without a massive detour.
Bottle Shop
There are great big shelves full to the brim with wines and other drinks that are sure to catch your eye. A real treasure trove for a wine, fizz and beer lover to explore.
If, like me, you’re not that knowledgable when it comes to wine, well this is where the staff really come into their own. They really know their stuff and can help steer you in the right direction.
Keep an eye out for when the tasting events are next on, if the events are anything like the shoo I should imagine they are really good. I’m hoping there might be one next year that I can tie in with a visit to Cornwall. There’s a section upstairs for events, it’s beautifully open plan, which I really like too.
Delicatessen
At the back, you’ll find a heady mix of cheese, crackers, chutneys, biscuits and so, so much more. It’s so nice to have a look around, there is such an awesome selection of food.
Remember Cameron Diaz in The Holiday when she buys all the nice food, and the check out lady was like ‘oh someone’s having a party’. Well, that we me at The Old Garage as I rolled out with a large bag full of tasty treats and drinks to have when back in Polzeath.
I picked up some cheese, wine, crackers and meats and these luxury snowmen biscuits because…well just look at them…
Staycation Treats
The great thing about The Old Garage, is that it’s the place to head if you’re on a self-catering staycation. If you’re anything like me, you’ll want to treat yourself to some nice things to eat and drink at your accommodation, on the days you’re not eating out.
There’s nothing nicer than having a few treats in while playing board games after a long day on the Cornish beaches.
