The Ocean Film Festival UK

Inspiration can be found anywhere. But it’s good to get the creative juices flowing by doing different things that might fuel an idea in the future. I’m always on the hunt for something new and exciting that inspires me or pushes me out of my comfort zone.

In public relations and any creative industry, a bit of creative fuel can come in handy when thinking of ideas for a new campaign, a way to shoot a video or how to style something.

For the past three years I’ve been going to the Ocean Film Festival when it tours the UK. The festival is a series of short films collated from around the world that celebrate the ocean.

The tour was launched in Australia in 2014 with a mission to bring together amazing stories from above and below the seas. Marine conservation is very close to it’s heart and it supports the Marine Conservation Society and Surfers Against Sewage.

This year had fascinating stories from India’s first surfer girl to two ladies battling currents, weather and wildlife around the Aleutian Islands in kayaks. One french man was even travelling solo around Indonesian islands in his own jute (a very strong root fibre) boat investigating sustainable low tech living!

Every tour brings a collection of new stories and I find myself on a journey of discovery and in wonder at the natural world and human endeavour.

The amazing people, sea-life and stories provide plenty of inspiration. It’s the perfect way to take you out of yourself, visually transporting you corners of the world you didn’t know existed.

I’m Bex

Welcome to Roam Hampshire!

It’s all change on this blog at the moment so sorry if it’s a bit hard to follow, I am working on it.

BUT…

If day trips and big eats are your thing, you’ve landed in the right place.

I’m Bex, I live in a beautiful county called Hampshire on the South Coast of the UK and I love living by the sea.

The county is famous for growing watercress, its maritime history and for being Jane Austen’s home among many other famous literary giants.

Take a look around to find top travel and food recommendations across the county.

Big Love,
Bex
